(More customer reviews)MAYBE I'm being harsh.
The door involved is an Andersen storm door, maybe that's too heavy for these "heavy duty" door closers. Anyhow:
We bought a pair of replacement hinges when the "originals" (I don't know if those had been replacements, we got the house several months ago) bent out of shape after a Thanksgiving get-together at our place. I presumed one or two of the more rambunctious younger guests threw the door open one too many times. Nonetheless, the struts were bent out of shape, and replacements were needed.
We went and got an identical replacement pair of door-closers at Home Depot. Installation was straightforward, easy enough, etc. We even had fun installing a spring-and-chain combo to help support the closers in keeping our mighty storm door SHUT.
Within the month, it was a dark and stormy night, and some vigorous South Jersey winds batted at the door through the evening.
We checked the storm door to see if all was okay... The struts for the top and bottom closers were BENT from the breeze, making it impossible for us to fully close the door. I disengaged the closers with the handy-dandy user-friendly pins that connected the mechanisms, and slammed the storm door shut.
Next time, we're getting something a LOT more substantial.
