If you want to use a dead bolt above it, there is a problem changing the batteries or resetting the codes because you can't remove the cover without having to completely removing the deadbolt above. Kwikset designed it so the protective cover must slide up and off the lock to make any changes to the codes or change batteries. They didn't allow for the fact most people have deadbolts located above these locks. The smart key feature is great. Easy to use.
