(More customer reviews)I have several keyed-alike Schlage exterior locksets in my home. When the lockset on the most frequently used entryway failed, I took off the doorknobs to observe that the piece on the latch that connects to the doorknobs had worn excessively and then broke. It wasn't an option to replace the entire doorknob/latch unit with one from Home Depot -- then I'd have a key unique to that door, and unlike all the others in the house. With some research on the Schlage site and elsewhere, I confirmed that I had an F series exterior lockset (basic grade and VERY common)and that this unit was the correct replacement part for me. Note in the photos of this item that the latch plate shows a cut-out profile for the latch bolt with an extra semicircle to accommodate a small bolt that operates alongside the large one. That's how I distinguished this product from a similar one. I was happy to buy this item on Amazon from Ace Hardware Outlet, a seller I've counted on for great service and prices, including for a Metalbestos chimney system for my wood stove.
